30 months from earliest priority date – for PCT National Phase
Filing: the application with all required documents - 12 months from priority date for Paris Convention or 30 months from first priority for PCT national phase.
Formal examination: checking on formal requirements/documentation
Substantive examination: can be filed at anytime within 5 years from filing date/PCT filing date
Notice of Substantive Results: approx. 18 months from request for examination. Response due within 6 months from date of Office Action.
Grant: Issuance fee to be paid within 6 months from date of notice of allowance
Annuity: 1st maintenance to be paid at filing. Subsequent payment every year after filing
Protection period: 20 years from the filing subject to payment of maintenance fees.
Estimate time to obtain grant for straight forward case approximately 3-5 years from request for examination filed.
